What did Solomon and the Shulammite teach us about building a great marriage? One thing is that great marriages don't begin in the bedroom; they begins with a great courtship. Repeatedly we are told in the Song of Solomon, "Do not awaken this kind of love before the time." During courtship there is incredible temptation to cross the line sexually. Don't do it!
Let me tell you how to give yourself a gift worth more than a million buck on your honeymoon. Protect your sexuality. Save yourself until marriage. If I were to offer you a million dollars to keep yourself sexually pure until marriage that would be a terrific gift, and you would probably take me up on it. But we all know you don't have to wait until you are married to have sex. You can have sex any time you want. You can earn a million dollars later, right? Yes, you can. But it will probably take years to earn - if you ever earn it. In the same way if you violate God's standard for sex you will forfeit the incredible gift God wants to give you on your wedding night. Yes, you can still have a great marriage, but like earning a million bucks it will take years to develop what you could have had as a gift on your wedding night.
Think about it.
